After reading chapter 7:
1. Comment on the following quote: "And, of course, Alex understood only too well." (p.43, l.33)
In my opinion it means that Alex were able to understand a little bit more why his dad had left him and his mother. Maybe he felt like his dad when he told him why he did leave them.
2. Write a different ending of the chapter: "That night, when Alex had gone to sleep, TOM picked up his diary and began writing." (compare p.43, l.34f)
Dear diary!
Alex have been in Australia for a month. I`m so happy about seeing my son. I hope he´ll understand me and my feelings about leaving him and his mum! He has already grown up, so many years I want to cantact him but I didn`t do that. I feel very sad about my own scare that he don`t like me....because finally he is here and we talk to each other! I`m so happy!!!!! I know that he can`t see his fahter in me but I hope his see myself as a good friend! I`m thankful for seeing him now and so we´re going to stay two more nights on Whitsunday Island!!!!

At first: Why should Alex fell like his father? What had he done to be like his father, I'm sorry but it's not very understandable..
OR do you mean Alex can place himself in Tom's situation and because of that he can understand him? Please write a comment in my blog!
In my opinion you've picked a very great picture, it fits perfectly!( I believe mine is nearly looking the same)
I would agry with your opinion in both texts, but to be honest you've sticked with your comment in the diary to close with with the story in the book. Exsample: Tom don't believe that he can see in him an acceptable father. I'm sorry be a little bit more creativ.
